Cowboys and Roses Renegade Ranch's roots
date from 2003 when Janet Carswell started a Christian riding center for children. Its mission was to let any child with the
desire to be around horses to do just that. She allowed any child, regardless of ability to pay, to come
and learn about horse care, riding and the love God has for them.
It helped these children increase their self-esteem
and confidence. She allows the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other youth groups to come to the ranch and learn about horses.
Her program has taken the horses to local schools and businesses to reach and educate children that otherwise would not make
it to the ranch.
In 2005 she wanted to expand her riding program
to help children with special needs.
She learned about the benefits of hippotherapy
first-hand. She had to borrow a horse and work out a schedule for her youngest son to get the benefits of hippotherapy.
(He is now much better!) With him in mind, she decided to "pay-it-forward" and open the ranch as a non-profit hippotherapy
and therapeutic riding center for children. December 2005 the ranch became a Public Charity[501(c)(3)].
Her ranch now offers hippotherapy,
therapeutic, and recreational riding at no cost to any child that needs these programs!
